Course description


Course outline and purpose: 


This course is designed to give teachers an overview of the strategic role of the SENCO as well as the day to day aspects of the role that include multi-agency working, liaison with parents and staff, assessing and identifying pupil needs and managing SEND provision

Key objectives


KEY OBJECTIVES:


To understand the roles and responsibilities of the SENCO


To gain an overview of SEND legislation that impacts on schools


To gain a deeper understanding of the four broad areas of need


To understand the importance of high-quality teaching for all pupils including those with SEND
