Code: ENF/19/113 Teaching and Learning in Year 2

Target Audience:

Prepares Year 2 teachers for the KS1 SATs and supports them in understanding the reporting and assessment arrangements. It will also focus on effective teaching and learning strategies.

This is a two day course which is run annually. Participants are expected to attend both days and complete a gap task.

Day 1

We will look at the statutory requirements of the national curriculum and assessment procedures, enabling teachers to plan an effective curriculum based on the learning needs of their class. We will explore ways of accelerating progress for all pupils, with a focus on assessment and data analysis. Teachers will need to bring current assessment data for reading, writing and maths.

Day 2

In this session we will prepare year 2 teachers for the KS1 SATs and reporting and assessment arrangements. We will discuss the formalities of testing, explore relevant supportive material and consider how to plan from test analysis. Teachers will need to bring current assessment data for reading, writing and maths and literacy and numeracy books representing the ability ranges in the class.
