Target Audience: Year 1 & Year 2 teachers, Maths Subject Leaders, Senior Leaders responsible for Assessing Teaching & Learning.

Course outline and purpose: 

A statutory requirement of the maths national curriculum for all key stages is that children develop a conceptual understanding. This can be achieved through the combined use of the concrete, pictorial & abstract approach. Research has also shown that children and adults have a greater chance of understanding and retaining concepts if they are taught this way.

In accordance with the new DfE initiative of Wellbeing & Recovery in Education, the associated grant covers all costs for school, meaning schools can sign up for this program, with no cost (this applies to buyback and non-buyback schools).

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Primary & Secondary SLT and teachers, governors, support staff

COURSE OUTLINE AND PURPOSE:
This professional learning program will bring together a range of professionals to enable discussion, provide practical tools and increase the confidence of teachers to interact effectively with the children and young people they work with. 
A partnership program designed with Enfield Professional Learning and Enfield’s Educational Psychology Service, all sessions will align to the principles of promoting a sense of safety, belonging, self and collective efficacy, calm and hope.

Course outline and purpose: 

Building on previous phase group training, this course is being repeated for teachers new to Year 1 or those requiring a refresher.

We will consider the ethos and objectives of the 2014 curriculum and explore progression within number, including more opportunities for deeper, rich mathematical tasks and how to achieve mastery for all children.

The online course prepares TAs for the half-day school-based assessment visit or telephone interview, leading to the award of HLTA status. Selection for HLTA is based on the completion of the HLTA application form and fulfilling the entry requirements. The HLTA Programme will run each term.
