Target Audience: Year 1 & Year 2 teachers, Maths Subject Leaders, Senior Leaders responsible for Assessing Teaching & Learning.
Course outline and purpose:
A statutory requirement of the maths national curriculum for all key stages is that children develop a conceptual understanding. This can be achieved through the combined use of the concrete, pictorial & abstract approach. Research has also shown that children and adults have a greater chance of understanding and retaining concepts if they are taught this way.Essential Information
